Sometimes the summer holiday we dream about doesn’t turn out quite as we’d hoped. It’s too hot…the sand gets everywhere…and there isn’t enough room to swing a beach towel! If you’ve been watching too many Scandi crime dramas lately then you may have been harbouring a yen to go somewhere just like this and stare out across a moody lake while solving a murder. Or maybe you’ve had enough of taking the kids to Disney and want them to experience a slice of Pippi Longstocking style freedom; roaming the woods and having adventures? Either way, we think the Swedes have got the right idea when they forego the crowded beaches of Southern Europe and choose instead to spend their summers lazing by one of their 100,000 gorgeous lakes.
The cottage is actually located between two lovely lakes and is surrounded by wonderful scenery. Feel free to make use of the rowing boat provided to drift across the lake and there are bikes to rent in the local village to help you explore but be warned that the nearest shop is 10km away!
The delightful and traditional cottage is cosy in winter with the lovely log fire to keep you warm. In summer it is an idyllic spot to enjoy those long Scandinavian evenings. Magical!
