Planning a June wedding and still haven’t booked the honeymoon? Always wanted to stay in one of those gorgeous over water bungalows staring out across the Indian Ocean? You’re in luck. This is low season in The Maldives and there are some great deals out there. You will be gambling a bit on the weather but who cares if it’s raining when you’re wet already? You certainly won’t be cold and the sunshine is usually ready to pop out in between showers. With more airlines than ever to choose from, the prices are not as high as they used to be at any time of year so these are worth a look in peak season too.  We’ve found some great packages and some independent travel deals… all you have to do is get it booked!

10 Vilu Reef Beach & Spa Resort, Meedhuffushi

Vilu Reef Beach

Sprawled across the entire expanse of Meedhuffushi Island in South Nilandhe Atoll, and blessed with pristine beaches and lush greenery, this unspoilt island never fails to create a breathtaking first impression. The water villas are within swimming distance of the superb house reef but also benefit from a beautiful lagoon between them and the white sand beach of the island.

One of the larger resorts in the Maldives Vilu Reef offers exceptionally good value for money. The bar and restaurant prices here are surprisingly good value for a Maldives resort (many of them make the most of the fact that you are sitting ducks; you can’t exactly pop out for a pizza!). The buffet lunch is around $15 and the A La Carte menu won’t break the bank either with tasty dishes such as Maldivian fish curry for $15.

Honeymoon Water Villa

Go it alone: Jacuzzi Water Villas are available through Booking.com on a B&B basis for the fantastically low price of £1674! (Or you can upgrade to one with a private pool for less than £400 on top). It’s an extra £333 each for the sea-plane transfer from Male airport.
Flights (click here) from £500 each.
TOTAL: £3340
